Humanitarian Activist Muhammad Husein Invites 1 Million Volunteers to Break Gaza's Blockade

Muhammad Husein, a well-known humanitarian activist, has recently unveiled a groundbreaking initiative titled the "Indonesia Global Peace Convoy." This movement aspires to send Indonesian volunteers straight to the besieged area of Gaza, Palestine, pushing through Israeli blockades to provide much-needed humanitarian aid directly to those affected. Husein's announcement, delivered on Saturday, June 28, 2025, came through a video message following a major consolidation meeting with public figures, religious leaders, and activists at Balai Kartini, Jakarta.

“Good news for everyone who's been asking for a way to reach Gaza. We've now opened up that opportunity, God willing, we will all go to Gaza,” began Husein in his video statement, setting a tone of hope and solidarity.

This movement, co-initiated with renowned cleric Ustaz Bachtiar Nasir, is a direct response to the continuous genocide in Gaza and the perceived silence of the international community. Husein describes this as a "step up" from previous solidarity actions, which were limited to local convoys between cities or from mosque to mosque. Now, the aim is a tangible, large-scale demonstration of Indonesian and global support.

Carrying the powerful slogan "Humanity, Break The Siege," the convoy is opening its doors to all interested humanitarian volunteers. “We will be opening a mass convoy registration for Indonesians to go to Gaza. Through our shared humanity, we aim to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza,” Husein asserted firmly.

He also set an ambitious target: at least one million registrants. This figure, he explained, is meant to signal unwavering seriousness and to send a strong message to the world that global civil society stands with Palestine. The initiative is self-funded, with Husein encouraging prospective volunteers to start saving up for their journey.

In his explanation, Husein addressed a recurring narrative—why prioritize aid for Palestine when there are plenty of issues at home? He emphasized that supporting Gaza does not mean neglecting Indonesia's domestic challenges. He underscored that the spirit of anti-colonialism and solidarity is deeply rooted in Indonesia’s 1945 Constitution, which mandates that freedom is the right of all nations and that colonialism must be eradicated from the earth.

“Indonesia is not a selfish country. Our founders firmly established a principle that we oppose any form of colonialism,” Husein stressed. He further noted that a generous mindset naturally extends both near and far; those who care for distant suffering are unlikely to neglect their own.

For those inspired to take part, the "Indonesia Global Peace Convoy" has now opened registration via the link provided below. Husein ends his call to action by urging the public to help spread the word so that support and advocacy for Palestine will remain steadfast and enduring.
