The Gaza government has announced that Oxycodone, a powerful prescription narcotic, was discovered in flour bags delivered by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), an aid organization backed by the United States and Israel. The discovery was made on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Rafah, Gaza.
According to an official statement from the Gaza Government Media Office, at least four Palestinian residents reported finding Oxycodone tablets inside the flour they received at GHF distribution points. Oxycodone is a highly regulated painkiller, available only by doctor’s prescription, with known side effects including hallucinations, nausea, and potentially life-threatening respiratory depression.
Officials in Gaza stressed the possibility that these pills may have been crushed or dissolved into the flour, framing this as a “direct attack on public health” and branding it as part of a “dirty war” intended to spread addiction among Palestinian civilians.
The statement explicitly accuses Israel of being fully responsible for this “heinous crime,” alleging that the act was deliberate and intended to destabilize Palestinian social structures from within. The government labeled the alleged action as a “soft weapon” in the ongoing genocide against Palestinian civilians.
At this time, the Israeli government has not issued an official response to these allegations. Meanwhile, both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations (UN) are currently investigating the claims, aiming to verify the authenticity and scope of the findings before recommending or enacting further actions.
